Description
Chemdog 91 is the founding cultivar of one of cannabis's most influential modern lineages — the broader Chem family that seeded OG Kush, Sour Diesel, and a sprawling subset of the West Coast catalog. The strain takes its name from a story, told and retold across decades, in which a few seeds were obtained from a bag of unusually pungent flower at a Grateful Dead show in the early 1990s and grown out by the cultivator known as "Chemdog."
Lineage is genuinely disputed. Some sources cite a Nepalese landrace background; others claim Thai or Hawaiian ancestry; the originator himself has not produced documentation that resolves the question. What survives is the cut — passed hand-to-hand among cultivators in the years before seed banks digitized the catalog — and the unmistakable diesel-and-skunk terpene profile its descendants inherit.
This record exists as folklore-tier reference. It is published by CannaDB editorial because no living breeder can authoritatively claim Chemdog 91, and the genetics it gave rise to are too foundational to leave un-anchored in the lineage graph.
